USDT network fees compared: TRC20 vs BEP20 vs ERC20 vs Polygon

The same USDT token lives on several blockchains, and the fee to move it varies wildly. Pick the right network and you save on every transfer. Pick the wrong one and funds can be lost.

TRC20 (Tron)

Most popular in India. Cheap, fast, and supported by nearly every Indian exchange and wallet.

Best for: Everyday transfers and exchange deposits

BEP20 (BNB Chain)

Very low fees. Popular with Binance and Trust Wallet users. Always confirm the receiver supports BEP20.

Best for: Low-cost transfers to BNB Chain wallets

Polygon

Cheapest option on most days. Great for DeFi and apps built on Polygon.

Best for: DeFi apps and the lowest possible fee

ERC20 (Ethereum)

The original USDT network with the widest support, but gas fees are the highest. Use only when the receiver requires ERC20.

Best for: When the destination only accepts ERC20

Which network should you choose?

Sending to an Indian exchange?

Choose TRC20 — it is the default for exchange deposits in India and the fees are low.

Want the cheapest fee?

Choose Polygon or BEP20 — usually a few cents. Confirm the receiver supports the network first.

Receiver demands ERC20?

Only then use Ethereum. Fees are higher but support is universal on global platforms.

Never mix up networks

USDT sent on one network cannot be received on another. A TRC20 address starts with T, while ERC20, BEP20 and Polygon addresses start with 0x. Always match the network you select at Bharat Exchange with the network your receiving wallet or exchange is set to — a mistake is usually irreversible.
